FUN SCIENCE- 4th LTTA

Gheorgheni, Romania 03-07.10.2022

The week-long program started with a welcome ceremony that featured performances by local pupils, speeches from the headmistress and partner schools, and an international lunch. The icebreaking games and quiz were designed to encourage interaction and teamwork between the international groups.

On day one, students participated in a STEM/CLIL lesson presented by two partner countries, followed by a team-building activity where they cooked a local traditional meal (gulas), went horse riding, and played outdoor games.

Day two began with workshops for teachers and students to create an added-value activity based on the CLIL lessons and STEAM activities. The other two countries presented their STEAM lessons, Romania focused on Inquiry-Based Learning, Flipped Classroom, Gallery Walk, and Sounds-CLIL lessons. The cultural visit to Praid's Salt mine featured a local quiz activity that encouraged participants to explore the area and learn about its history and culture.

On day three, students took part in a cultural visit to Bran and Brasov, where they explored the Science Museum and participated in experiential learning activities. The day's events included tasks and contests in international teams, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.

Day four featured workshops on innovative ways to teach science, with students and teachers participating in ICT, Biology, and Physics lessons at Sapientia University, Tirgu Mures. The day ended with a Zoo-quiz in the afternoon, testing students' knowledge of animal facts and trivia.

Day five started with PE/Arts/Maths lessons and a coordinators' meeting to plan for the next LTTA and local activities. In the afternoon, students prepared presentations and videos highlighting their experiences and the results of their work over the week. The week concluded with a final ceremony and farewell party, where students shared their experiences and said their goodbyes.

Overall, the program was designed to encourage international collaboration, cultural exchange, and innovative learning in STEAM and CLIL subjects. The various activities, including workshops, team-building, cultural visits, and quizzes, were tailored to engage students and teachers and encourage learning in a fun and interactive way.
